RTCC v Haringey Libraries at North Middlesex

Friday 30th May 2014
(20 overs)
RTCC 89-9
Haringey 84-4
RTCC won by 5 runs

No idea who won the toss but I opened with AndyR on a damp and green wicket with huge boundaries as we were the only game in town. We made about 39 before my off stump went cartwheeling in the 6th over. The long lost Vikrant played a few wristy shots before being caught at cover. Andy R was lbw, Eds Bailey and Bartram were bowled, Chris was caught and bowled first ball, Andy J was held in the covers, Richard W was bowled and Barry was lbw first ball. No 11 Simon survived the hat-trick ball - the penultimate of the innings. Amidst all the coming and goings Johan made 20 at the other end featuring the game's only six.

89 looked light despite the pitch, but Ed Bailey and AndyJ bowled stunningly stingy opening spells. Only 20 came from their 8 overs with just 1 four. Ed took 2 wickets in his spell - both bowled.

On came Tall Ed and Barry defending 7 an over. The latter struck first ball. Suddenly the rate was rocketing to about 10 an over. I had the no 4 caught by Johan at long off and 30 runs were needed off 2 overs. Andy R's solitary over went for 13 leaving 17 to win. I bowled the last and went for 11, making the winning margin seem closer than it really was.

Captain's Tankard went to Mr Bailey, though Andy J's 4 over spell for 7 runs must have been a close second.
